Losing men a cause of concern for UWP

As the elections are approaching, political mathematics are on the peak to analyse the ground and on the other hand, political fronts of Dominica are hurling allegations on each other.

Interestingly, in these elections social media has proved to be a major platform for the supporters of political parties and Dominican individuals, whereas plenty of politically oriented groups can be seen on both Facebook and Whatsapp to influence the general public.

Recently, a relevant facebook post took public on toes with facts provided by an individual of Dominica. The post was followed by a headline ‘UWP days are numbered’ – United Workers Party which is the second strong party in Dominica – took eyes of the people.

In their recent statement, UWP stated “Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit must go,” but on the ground zero, the situation seems completely opposite and people of UWP are going to meet Skerrit one by one.

It is evident that a number of UWP leaders have joined the Dominica Labour Party lead by Skerrit. The list includes, UWP Member Parliament Joseph Issac – is also the candidate of DLP from Roseau North Constituency – and former UWP candidate Dr Curvin Ferriera who joined DLP in recent candidate launch at St Joseph on August 25.

Not only this, Hotelier and former United Workers Party president Sam Raphael has also shifted his interest from UWP. The party is constantly witnessing the loss of senior leaders, that too on the crucial time of elections which can affect the performance of the party very badly.

However, the outcome can not be assessed yet as UWP is working day and night to uproot DLP from the government by levelling allegation regarding fund embezzlement. Yet there is no such evidence that UWP could make the allegations factual.

While Prime Minister has already announced that financial officers will reach out soon with the comprehensive information about the money generated and spent on the several development works.
