Jamaica: The travelers at the Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica are expressing their frustration with the inadequate services available at the airport, which is causing major delays.

It is being said that the pay stations are out of service while the airport authorities are maintaining that the machines are perfectly fine and operational.

Several frequent travelers have reported that the machines are rarely functional and usually leave them inconvenienced.

According to a male patron, he attempted to access the car park pay station twice since the beginning of the year and it was out of service both the times.

He added that he tried to use this service once in February and then in late March, but it wasn’t working, which led him to wait in a long queue for a minor payment.

Another traveler reported that there are three to four machines installed at the airport that allow people to pay for their parking tickets, but none of them works properly, and even when they were working, people were only able to pay in cash. The traveler added, “Really? Cash only? What century are we living in?

On the other hand, the airport authorities are saying that the machines are working properly. The Chief Executive Officer of the Norman Manley International Airport, Sitara English-Byfield said that just like a lot of mechanical systems, different machines go down at different times and there are four machines available on the main side of the airport.

Meanwhile, another patron who tried to park her car at the airport in February, also said that she faced issues while accessing the machine on her return to Jamaica. It was also said that most of the time, the car park pay station has a printed sheet on it reading that the station is out of service and please pay at the cashier.

This forces the passengers to wait in long queues to park their vehicles, hence causing delays in boarding.
