Jamaica: A young female in St Mary has become the victim of a recent home invasion incident which eventually claimed her life. The victim has been identified as a 34-year-old security guard, Jody Buchanan, who was shot and killed on Sunday morning at her residence.
According to the reports, Buchanan was at her home alone on Sunday when a lone masked gunman entered the residence through the back door. He allegedly opened fire at the female, killing her on the spot before making a good escape.
Notably, the victim shared the two-bedroom house with her father, who was not at home at the time of the incident.
The neighbours of Jody Buchanan heard the gunshots, following which they called the police. The police officials reached the residence only to find Jody dead.
Police said that she was found lying on her back in her bed with several gunshot wounds on her upper body. The initial reports have not found any motive for the killing, but the St Mary Criminal Investigative Bureau has launched an investigation to establish the reason behind this killing.
The incident shocked the citizens of the island, with several females having a sense of fear in Jamaica because of increasing crimes against them.
Several people on social media have expressed their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased, while some also urged the government to strengthen their rules for gun violence.
"They came for her. That's why she got so many shots; oh my God, I hope they catch him. This is so sad," wrote a user named Marcia.
One user named Duffus Shena suggested the police check on her boyfriend, close friends and even co-workers to find the motive behind this brutal killing.
"Find who did that and apply the death sentence right away something have to give it just cannot keep happening like this without some very serious consequences," said another user named Larry Williams.
