Former St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister the Rt Hon Dr Denzil L Douglas said Wednesday his St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party has been fully mobilized for the next general elections with a message of hope, reconciliation and vision for the people of the Federation.

"This next election is like no other because it is about whether our people will affirm or reject nepotism, rampant and naked corruption, and the debasement of good governance practices in St. Kitts and Nevis," he said at the SKNLP's monthly press conference.

"Over the next few months our party will continue to take our message forward and to enlist the participation of the public, including stakeholder groups in the private sector, civil society and professional associations, as we define and shape our NEXTGEN SKN agenda that will take our country forward," Dr Douglas said.

He said he is extremely proud to lead into office such a fine, mature and seasoned slate of candidates who will work diligently, side by side, to help take this country to the next level.

"The men and women our party has chosen are upstanding, highly-motivated and capable people with a proven record of service to the people at the community level.  We are a unified and balanced team, mixing youth and experience; professionals in law and medicine with professionals in education, sports and business and accounting.

What we have in common is our unswerving commitment to the people of St Kitts and Nevis and to upholding the core values to do all the Good that  We Can Do for the people of our Federation and to put country above self," said Douglas, the political leader of the SKNLP.

"This is the party who cares about you. Your needs, your concerns, your dreams and aspirations for yourselves and your children and who is committed to working with you to make them a reality," said Dr Douglas, who added that the StKNLP is the only truly unified party that exists in St Kitts.

" Our NEXTGEN SKN VISION is an inclusive agenda that puts every man, woman and child at the very center of our development planning and putting people first is our highest priority," Dr Douglas said.

He said a new Labour government will make sure that when St. Kitts and Nevis takes off  "the masses of the people will be onboard, not just a few politicians, their friends and their families."

" Our vision will create an environment where our young people can dream big and participate in the policy conversations of our country. We will not just make the economy work again, we will put the economy to work for you," said the SKNLP leader.

Dr Douglas promised also to put policies in place to empower small businesses, create new entrepreneurs, teach people how to invest their money and grow wealth and engage the Diaspora in an institutionalised way and bring their wealth, expertise and skills to bear in nation-building.

He said the SKNLP will provide the incentives for farmers and fishermen to form cooperatives and grow the agriculture industry and promised that the new Labour Government will also invest in creatives so that local artistes, musicians and entertainers can level up and become international brands. "Opportunities will be created for the establishment of hubs in every community, that will bring economic activity to every town and village and the nation's children will be equipped with the tools to be the best that they can do," said Douglas.
