Annika Bellot also encouraged everyone to come to Dominica to experience this one-time experience. She quoted, "So if you're still on the fence, book the ticket and COME! Carnival does have a budget! You'll make the money back, but you can never make back memories missed!"

The Real Mas opened with a splash of traditional and contemporary mas on Saturday, January 6 2024. It was a three-in-one celebration of culture and heritage. The celebration began with a street parade on the Streets of Roseau at 3 pm, followed by a Parade Display at 5:30 pm at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.The third event, Band meets Band, was the highlight of the day and marked a perfect end to the opening of the Carnival. It featured Signal Band, Unstoppable Shax and Triple Kay Band.
The Carnival will continue until February 17, 2024, and will feature a number of events, including pageants, calypso and much more.
Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism also shared some snapshots of the opening day and invited everyone to Dominica. "Excitement is in the air, and you won't want to miss a moment! Book your flights now and be part of this unforgettable experience," said the Ministry. About Mas DomnikMas Domnik, also known as The Real Mas, is a Caribbean Carnival like no other. This Carnival brings together French and African traditions, which are part of Dominica's rich cultural heritage.
Held for a span of two months, the Carnival comprise village festivals, calypso shows, mas camp shows, pageants and street parades which showcase traditional cultural elements such as Sense or BwaBwa. The main Carnival starts with J'ouvert morning and runs throughout the day.
Mas Domnik is among the few carnivals which still showcases so much of Dominica's cultural heritage.
