Dominica government shifting its services to online platforms

Roseau, Dominica: Government of Commonwealth of Dominica have announced to shift its operations to online platforms. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit stated that COVID-19 has accelerated and expanded the global digital economy, and Dominica is also opting a similar path.
He stated that to further move Dominica into the digital age, the government is shifting services and fee payments to online platforms. He added that this initiative is providing more opportunities and training to young people of the country.
"We have embarked a digital transformation project that will be a driver of economic growth, job creation, improved services delivery, e-commerce and a new plank for our economy," stated Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
Prime Minister Dr Skerrit further stated that COVID-19 has been the most significant disruptor of a lifetime and it has caused changes at a rapid and unprecedented pace. He added that Dominica must be agile and proactive in reacting to that change.
Besides this, Dr Skerrit added that the government's approach is to look into the future and put in place policies and programmers that would enable the country to build back better, and diversify the economy.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister stated that it is essential to prepare the youth to take advantages of technology and the digital economy. He stated that the government is developing a "Work in Nature" product which will facilitate opportunities for service providers in telecommunications, houses, car rental and others.
Commonwealth of Dominica also approached the world bank in August 2020 to seek assistance in order to expand Digital Economy which is expected to transform lives in the island nation. The Government of Dominica established the Ministry of Digital Economy to help the island with the approach the world has been using modern technology.
