COVID-19 in Montserrat: 304 active cases, 2 deaths and 64 new cases recorded

Montserrat has become the most recent country in the Caribbean to experience a tragic COVID-19 wave. In just two days, the country recorded 67 new cases, out of which 64 were locally transmitted and three imported.
The Ministry also reported two deaths during the reporting period, along with 124 recoveries. Therefore, the total number of active cases on Montserrat is 304."The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) is reporting that during the period 12:01 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, to 12:00noon Tuesday, May 17, 2022, a total of 67 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded (46 on Monday and 21 on Tuesday). Sixty-four of the cases were locally transmitted and three imported. Around 722 persons are in quarantine," the Health Ministry added.
Authorities reminded the public that COVID-19 is a serious virus that can cause long-term problems or death. All residents are also advised to practise proper hand hygiene, wear facial covers in public places, follow quarantine and isolation regulations, and get vaccinated against this potentially lethal illness.Infected people should seek medical help as soon as they notice severe symptoms like shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or chest pains by calling the Flu Hotline at 496.7437 or 493.4755.
