All incoming tourists to St Kitts and Nevis will be required to download a national COVID-19 phone application to help authorities with the needed monitoring to guard against the spread of the covid-19 pandemic. At Wednesday’s (October 07) release of the National Emergency Operations Centre COVID-19 Weekly Briefing, Chief Medical Officer Dr Hazel Laws, stated that the app would be launched soon after administrators conclude some legal necessities. She highlighted an essential feature. “It has geofencing features whereby [we] will be observing their location to assure they are not farther of where they ought to be,” she asserted. This will be extremely significant, especially as it links to persons who have to follow quarantine protocols. Additionally, the innovation will aid contact tracing if any positive cases of COVID-19 are identified. “And then there is a clinical administration features of it whereby the person can interact with the health experts and indicate ‘hey I am short of breath or having difficulty breathing,’” the CMO said. Dr Laws continued that this literal communication innovation would enable a proper medical response and clinical management.
