Trinidad and Tobago: Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed notified that generous donation of 150 food hampers to the Burgesses of Chaguanas - .

Thanking the Chinese government, Mayor said, "It is with a grateful heart that I wish to express my gratitude to , ' ."

He added, "Ambassador Fang Qiu has consistently shown his commitment to strengthening the diplomatic relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago and the friendship between our people."

Mayor further noted that the thousands of our Burgesses of Chaguanas have been adversely affected as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we have been actively engaged in outreach efforts.

"His Excellency’s kindness to the Burgesses of Chaguanas is undoubtedly well received and greatly appreciated." He noted.

Mayor also said that he is certain that these food hampers will ease the burden of these families as we navigate through this difficult period.

Also, It would be remiss of me to not make mention of the fact that the Chinese Embassy was the 1st to respond to the request of the CBC as we have been reaching out to various organizations for assistance.

"I look forward to continue working with this Embassy in the future and hope to further collaborate on initiatives that geared towards the promotion of trade, commerce and culture." Chaguanas Mayor added.

Diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago were established on 20 June 1974. In 2002, the trade equivalence between the two nations was US$47.15 million, with China exporting all but $4.81 million of that.

Additionally, In 2013, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago made positive progress in practical cooperation across the board and their relations were brought to a higher level.
