Chairman of the National Infrastructure Development, Herbert George said on Thursday afternoon: "The vessel would be out of the Panama Canal on Thursday night and would arrive in the country on Sunday morning."

Adding to it, he said that Trinidad and Tobago is all set to welcome the vessel in the country. There will be no problems with the dock or with the ramps, George said, as the new vessels are specially built with specifications to fit in the ports of Spain and Scarborough.

"So we can use the existing driveways we have."

The Buccoo Reef is set to join the TT Spirit, the Galleons Passage, the Jean de La Valette, the newly commissioned APT James and the Cabo Star cargo boat.

The 112m long vessel can carry 1,000 passengers, including 224 VIP seats and 239 vehicles and can drive up to 45.3 knots.

It was built by shipbuilding company Incat in Tasmania, Australia, for $72.9 million.

The crew bringing the ship to TT will undergo the 14 mandatory quarantine days upon their arrival.
