British Virgin Islands's Former Legislator and Minister of Health Carvin Malone passed away aged 64. As per reports, he was admitted to the Dr D Orlando Smith Hospital following severe health issues,

While many admirers of Carvin Malone have expressed their condolences, Governor of the British Virgin Islands, John Rankin CMG was among the chief voices that drew the attention of the masses.

Rankin extended his condolences to the bereaved and spoke of how profoundly the passing of the Former Minister of Health, Carvin Malone, affected him. He highlighted the fact that Malone served his people, not only in his capacity as a member of the government and a public servant but also as a distinguished member of the Lion’s Club.

He has also been recognized and appreciated for his service during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which he worked closely with the Governor of the British Virgin Islands, John Rankin. This led to a mutual appreciation between the two as they collaborated to save their nation during one of the most difficult crises in recent times.

Malone was also the Territorial at-large Representative and Former President of the Virgin Islands Party. The party paid tribute to him following his passing and expressed how immense his loss is to the organisation and the nation.

According to the Virgin Islands Party, his contribution as the President of the party between 1999 and 2016 was invaluable.

In fact, his efforts influenced the political landscape of the nation. This is way he saw great success at the 2019 polls which brought him the responsibility of being the Minister of Health and Social Development, a role he played from 2019 to 2022.

For a nation such as the British Virgin Islands, which is remarkably small in size, Carvin Malone was exceptionally capable at utilizing and managing the resources available, to ensure that his citizens received the best facilities possible and were insulated from the ill effects of the pandemic.

Thus, his loss has had a significant impact on the nation as many remember him as a capable leader, who served his nation and people with the utmost loyalty.

Another leader who recognized his contribution to the British Virgin Islands is Chairman Dr Natalio Wheatley. Wheatley was quick to acknowledge the indelible mark that Malone left on the nation and the way governance is approached by its leaders.

In the words of the President of the Virgin Islands Party, Sharia De Castro, Malone was a strong voice for the nation and the party, who stood out for his devotion to his people and his cause, becoming a champion for the nation in the process.

Castro added that Malone’s passing has hit the nation and is a sad day for all, yet, the community will be galvanized by his example and rise to the occasion to honor his memory.
