A british national tests positive of COVID-19 in Dominica

The Caribbean island of Dominica confirmed on Thursday that the now has one active coronavirus case. The positive patient is said to be a British national who arrived in Dominica on August 10. National Epidemiologist Dr Shalauddin Ahmeh stated that one person has tested positive for the coronavirus in Dominica which has taken the total COVID-19 cases to nineteen. However, the remaining 18 people have recovered. "The recent confirmed case is a British national who arrive in Dominica on August 10, and the patient had 2 PCR done which were negative. On arrival, a rapid test was done, which was also negative. He had been home-quarantined, but now the person has started to show symptoms of the virus." added Dr Shalauddin. The patient has been admitted to the COVID-19 centre where his condition will be monitored for fourteen days stated the national epidemiologist.Furthermore, Dr Shalauddin stated that the health-department conducted 1938 PCR tests while 1919 tested negative to this novel coronavirus. Besides this, he said over 690 travellers arrived in Dominica since July out of which only one has tested positive for coronavirus.The national epidemiologist has advised people to be extra cautious in public, wear a mask when you are out and keep physical distancing. The people arriving in Dominica from countries included in CARICOM Travel Bubble are not required to get their PCR testings done prior to arrival in the country, but they will be screened at the airport, and rapid testing would be done upon arrival.
