Belize: A man was brutally stabbed to death in Belize City on Thursday night. The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Griffith McNaughton Cadle, who was a Belizean/American.
According to the information, the male was stabbed several times in his body just before 10 pm, and he succumbed to his injuries on St Joseph Street while trying to run away from his assailant.
The reports added that just before the stabbing, the victim was seen socializing with his attacker at the corner of Baymen Avenue and St Joseph Street. Both the men started to walk onto Nurse Seay Street in the direction of Chon Saan Palace when Cadle was stabbed.
The passersby are describing the attacker as a man with a clear complexion and standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a low haircut. The suspect, who was wearing a green t-shirt and long pants during the time of the incident, ran off in the direction of St James Street after the victim fell to the ground and died because of his injuries.
The police officers have also recovered a knife which is believed to be the murder weapon as part of the ongoing investigation in Belize. The police also believe that the victim and the suspect were friends, and the stabbing ensued because of some argument.
As the incident took place, it caused widespread shock across the community, with citizens taking to Facebook to urge the government to put some strict measures in place.
A user named Ruth Montero noted, “Like the late great Bob Marley said. Your best friends could be your worst Enemies” stay lit people. Careful of who you call friends and hang out with.” Another user outlined, “These crimes will kill Tourism sooner or later. Not good for our country. Serious penalties need to put in place and more patrolling of our police officers.”
