Barbados confirms 4 new deaths related to COVID-19, 251 new cases

Ministry of Health confirmed additional 251 new cases of COVID-19 in Barbados, which includes 111 males and 140 females

Barbados: The Ministry of Health confirmed additional 251 new cases of COVID-19 in Barbados, which includes 111 males and 140 females following the testing of 2,249 persons conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.  According to the data provided by the government, new cases of COVID-19 include 69 persons who are under the age of 18 and 182 persons who are 18 years or older. Currently, in Barbados, there are 579 persons under quarantine facilities and 1,947 are under home isolation.  Apart from this, Barbados has reported an additional four deaths related to the COVID-19 virus, including three Barbadians aged 60, 69 and 85 and a Saint Lucia national aged 59. The Ministry of Health confirmed that all four individuals who succumbed to Covid 19 were unvaccinated. Since the landfall of Covid 19 in March 2020, the Health Ministry has reported 10,918 confirmed cases of COVID-19, which includes 5292 males and 5626 females. Whereas, the laboratory has conducted 340,759 tests since February 2020. Public health officials have vaccinated 141,820 persons with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Barbados and a total of 111,734 individuals have received their second dose of the vaccine. This number represents 41.2% of the total population and 48.9% of the eligible population of the country.  Vaccination Centres The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ vaccination campaign will continue tomorrow, Monday, October 11, at a number of sites. Vaccination Centres: • Eunice Gibson Polyclinic, Warrens, St. Michael – 9:00 am to 6:30 pm. • Sharon Moravian Church Hall, Sharon, St. Thomas – 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. • The Alexandra School, Queen Street, St. Peter – 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. • Masonic Centre, Salters, St. George – 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. • Christ Church Parish Church Hall, Church Hill, Christ Church – 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. • Building No. 2, Harbour Industrial Park, St. Michael – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Community Engagement Sites: • Solidarity House, Harmony Hall, St. Michael – 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. • St. Philip Primary School, Church Village, St. Philip – 1:00 to 7:00 pm. All three vaccines – AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm – will be available at all listed sites.  Students 12 to 18 ages may visit any centre or pop-up clinic to take the Pfizer vaccine. Persons who want to receive their first dose are advised to walk with their national identification cards. Those eligible for second doses should also walk with their blue vaccination cards.
