Bahamas Opposition accuses the Government of Parliamentary abuse

The Opposition Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) plan to arrange challenges the Bahamian Government, blaming it for abusing power in the House of Assembly.

Resistance Leader Philip Brave Davis declared the move at a media gathering on Sunday as he censured House Speaker Dewitt Halson Moultrie for enabling the Government to seize his movement of no trust in Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis, a week ago.

He said the Speaker conflicted with the House rules during the Sitting on December 12, 2019, and permitted individuals from the administering Free National Movement (FNM) to change the goals when he was its mover.

He expressed: "What the Speaker permitted to happen was not altering the goals yet cancelling what we laid before the house since they were endeavouring to figure out how to abstain from noting the genuine accusations levelled against the Prime Minister and at any rate one individual from the bureau."

The FNM Members of Parliament (MP) utilised their dominant part to change the wording of the goals to one that communicated trust in Minnis.

The goals depended on the administration's choice to rent a shopping centre, which is somewhat claimed by the previous Cabinet serve Brent Symonette, for the movement of the General Post Office.

FNM MP for Golden Isles Vaughn Miller crossed the floor during the discussion and joined the autonomous seats.

Toward the finish of the sitting, 31 Government MPs cast a ballot to help Minnis while the four Opposition individuals cast a vote against him.

Davis blamed Minnis for misleading Parliament and said he is prepared to confront him in court for his announcement.

He stated: "You are a liar Prime Minister and you can test me. You don't have the Speaker to ensure you now, and you don't have the Speaker in the court to shield you from confronting and noting reality."

"I state to the Prime Minister you do have a case to reply and until you do your wrongdoing and degenerate conduct will consistently cast a foreboding shadow of wrongness over your organisation."

He has precluded moving a movement of no certainty against the Speaker, yet he said they would keep on upholding for his expulsion.
