Bahamas: 1 dead, 2 injured in triple shooting incident, marking 20th murder of 2024

Crime in Bahamas continues to get uncontrollable. The country recorded its 20th murder of 2024 on Wednesday evening. As per reports, it involved a triple triple shooting incident, which caused the death of one woman and left two others severely injured.
According to the official reports, the deceased woman at the police station over the weekend for questioning in connection with another murder.She was shot dead on Wednesday night during the shooting incident, which took place on Ragged Island Street and Cordeaux Avenue. The officials now believe that the victim was killed because she might have known something about the case that happened earlier.
The initial investigations into the incident revealed that the victim was socialising near Ragged Island Street while they were standing outside near a bar when some armed assailants approached them before opening fire towards them. According to the reports, after the shooting, the culprits made a good escape in their blue Japanese vehicle. A passerby immediately called the police and reported the incident, who, upon reaching the incident site, found two females and one male wounded with gunshot wounds.The police officials also reported that the 39-year-old female who got multiple gunshot wounds succumbed to her injuries before the arrival of medical officials on the scene.
Meanwhile, the emergency medical services rushed the second victim, a 40-year-old female, to the hospital as she had a gunshot wound on her right leg. The third victim, who was a male aged 36, was also taken to the hospital in a private vehicle after he got a gunshot wound to his left forearm.
Both the male and female are presently receiving treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. The police officials are also urging the general public to stay safe and report the police if they see anything suspicious around them by calling 919/911, the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2/3, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.
Citizens have also condemned the incident through their Facebook while some expressing shock over the surge in crime.
"20th murder and 31 days in the month, Jesus take the wheel," wrote a user named Sheila Devaux, while another user said, "I think this year will force Bahamians to wise up. Nothin in this country works. But Bahamians are always worshipping men all year round as if anything ever actually improves."Latest
