Around 75,000 food relief packages distributed by NAMDEVCO to needy amid COVID
Under the COVID-19 relief food support programme of the Trinidad and Tobago Government, around 75,000 food boxes have been delivered by NAMDEVCO.

Individual recipients have received food baskets that contained - sweet potato, dasheen, cassava, squash, pineapple, citrus, plantain, melongene, pawpaw, watermelon, cantaloupe, corn, cucumbers, bodi, dasheen leaves, pimento, sweet pepper, breadfruit, hot pepper, ochro and tomatoes.
In addition, the recipients have also received 1/2 dozen eggs and a package with two locally processed chickens.
The government of Trinidad and Tobago further informed that an additional, 9,000 families, via their councillors, have also received 20,000 soup packs which were prepared at our Piarco Packinghouse and 20,000 chickens during the month of July this year.The Trinidad and Tobago government further also appreciated the efforts and thanked the farmers who have sustained and continue to sustain the country with their production capacity for this initiative.
NAMDEVCO stands for National Agricultural Marketing and Development Corporation.
When the Distribution of the food relief packages started, the government asserted that “Distribution of these items to the respective places have commenced from today and would continue till tomorrow. The Ministry of Rural Development & Local government remains committed to working with all agencies to help citizens affected during the COVID-19 pandemic and further looks forward to another distribution of this magnitude in the month of June.”
The T&T government have once again also urged the residents of T&T to follow all Public Health Guidelines issued by the ministry of health and to follow the 3W’s, that is – wear your masks, wash your hands and watch your distance to defeat this pandemic and to overcome it.Latest
