Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority have revealed a new interactive tourist app that will allow guests to travel the island in a safe and culturally distanced way.

Caribbean: Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority have revealed a new interactive tourist app that will allow guests to travel the island in a safe and culturally distanced way.

"Explore Antigua", features hotels, eateries and bars, and popular tourist attractions around the island and is finished with a Google-integrated map for GPS navigation.

The App is available free for download in the Google Play and Apple iOS stores. It will be a feature at all ports of entry, leading hotels, restaurants and bars, car rental companies, and other island-wide locations.

Visitors and residents alike will have the opportunity to have to access the technology in a simple QR Code scan or by visiting the relevant stores for direct download.

Although the tourist map's physical copy will be made available in limited supply, emphasis will be placed on using the App is also in keeping with protocols.

Chief Executive Officer of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism department, Colin James, stated, "The Covid-19 pandemic called for our tourism sector stakeholders to quickly adapt their business, and make the most of digital technology in order to reach their messages to travelers safely.

Coronavirus pandemic has impacted the tourism sector throughout the world. These Caribbean island nations' are making all attempts to revive the sector, which amounts to a large number of its economic revenues.

Recently, hotels in St Lucia and the Dominican Republic announced free coronavirus testing for travelers to ease their visiting experience to these nations.

Several hotels in the region are also making more extraordinary efforts to assist the tourists in the hour of coronavirus pandemic.

Similarly, Dominica has also started an online portal for health checks for their tourists. They are required to submit a questionnaire answering various questions concerning their health and recent travel locations.
