Antigua and Barbuda: PM Browne unveils plans to develop infrastructure by 2025
Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne has recently revealed his plans to develop the infrastructure of Antigua and Barbuda with a major focus on roads and water supply projects.  While sharing the plan, he said that the Government strives to prioritise road repair and maintenance over the next year and will also work on ensuring the efficient operation of major infrastructure projects.  PM Browne said that in order to accomplish this plan, the Government is planning to hire 40 new persons at Public Works, especially to bolster road maintenance efforts while ensuring that the patching of roads is done more efficiently.  He also highlighted the significance of this initiative, saying that the employment of additional individuals would help the government have a night crew that would work on road patching and maintenance The Prime Minister also acknowledged the challenges brought by the ongoing road reconstruction activities, which led to regular patching and maintenance delays.  This is why the Government’s decision to hire new personnel strives to address these significant challenges and enhance the overall condition of roads across the nation.  In addition to this, the Prime Minister also disclosed that there are plans to continue to address the water issues in the country, which will include a water plant supplied by the government of Japan. This is aimed at boosting the water supply to a huge extent by an estimated several hundred thousand gallons per day.  While sharing the development, PM Browne stated that there is a firm in the United States in which the Government just signed a contract to build out a plant to supply around three million gallons of water per day.  There is also a regional entity that came to Antigua and Barbuda and wanted to collaborate with the Government with the Bethesda plant, said PM Gaston Browne. This shows the government’s dedication and commitment to enhancing the infrastructure of the country as a whole.
