As the InterCaribbean Airways has faced engine failures twice in a month, the netizens have been expressing their concerns over passenger safety. People are also venting out their disappointment over the fact that it is one of the major airlines of the Caribbean and is failing to pay proper attention towards its aircrafts’ maintenance.

While calling it the ‘worst’ airline ever, people are saying they don’t understand why the airline is still around.

The recent incident took place on April 12 as Flight 713, bound for Barbados, faced a technical issue which resulted in the precautionary shutdown of one of its engines soon after departing from Douglas Charles Airport in Dominica. The flight made several loops just east of Dominica before landing back from where it took off.

On March 13, Flight JY634 encountered a similar technical issue, which forced the pilot to make an emergency landing in Antigua. It is being reported that the left engine of this flight experienced a catastrophic failure soon after the takeoff. In addition to this, the passengers onboard InterCaribbean flight JY634 reported hearing a deafening boom. It was reported that emergency services were on standby and the flight landed safely.

Such incidents have led people to lose confidence in flying with this airline with many taking to Facebook and yelling at the officials to take responsibility for their actions and give proper attention to the maintenance of all the flights.

“I wonder if passengers of InterCaribbean are taking note. This is bad for safety reasons. Are we going to wait until something more serious happens?” wrote a user named Vincent A Adamson, while another user, Sydney, also shared her experience and said that some of the aircraft are very old and smell bad.

“I think they need to put it down. Twice in 1 month on the same aircraft,” stated another user named Winston George. A user clearly remarked in favour of LIAT to come back and noted, “Please, guys, no shortcuts on maintenance standards. Get Liat right again.”

“That whole airline is a problem. These aircraft are death traps. Although Liat was leave island anytime you felt safe on board,” lamented another user.
