Royal Caribbean to name new vessel "Icon of the Seas"

The world's largest cruise line by revenue, Royal Caribbean International announced that their newest vessel would be named "Icon of the Seas".

The world's largest cruise line by revenue, Royal Caribbean International announced that their newest vessel would be named "Icon of the Seas". The announcement was made during the steel cap ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.

The ceremony was attended by Richard Fain, Chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group; Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku; Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.

"We eagerly accepted this challenge," Meyer said.

'Now that ship production has begun in our halls, we are working to physically adapt the results of our design. It is always a solemn moment for our shipbuilders." stated Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku.

The ship will be the first in the Icon class of Royal Caribbean International and the first to be powered by LNG fuel. The cruise ship will also be able to connect to shore power.

"We were committed to realizing clean power at sea - and soon the norm - when the Icon class was first announced in 2016, and we're excited to see how construction is going on that's real.' one ship will be different from another, "said Bayley.

He stated that the Royal Caribbean International is looking forward to revealing more of the game-changing features that our guests and crew envision as she begins to take shape. The Icon of the Seas plans to make its debut in the fall of 2023.

After more than a year of closure, the Royal Caribbean International begun its operations in May 2021. The cruise-liner have been tellings its guests to get fully-vaccinated before booking their trips. As per the cruise-ship administration, all of their staff members on board are fully immunised against the COVID-19.

In 2020, when the coronavirus started to spread, cruise-ships were devastated with new clusters of virus being discovered. Cruise-ship have been the only industry that resumed its operations later than all.
