Trinidad and Tobago: A man became the victim of a recent shooting incident that occurred in Malabar, Arima, on Saturday. The incident also resulted in serious injury to another man.
According to the reports, the deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Zion Butcher, aka Papi, while the injured man is yet to be identified.
Following preliminary investigations, the police officials have reported that around 3 50 am, the officers of the Northern Division received a report of a shooting incident at the Pro Bar in Malabar Extension Road.
As the police officials arrived at the crime scene, they found Butcher's lifeless body at the corner of La Croix and Malabar Extension Road. The officials were then told about the 45-year-old man who got injured during the incident and was rushed to the hospital.
After some time, the officials of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit also visited the scene and discovered 13 spent 9-mm shell casings. The police officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Regions I and II are continuing inquiries into both incidents.
The last murder that took place in the Arima area was on Thursday, March 28, 2024, when 44-year-old Kevin Francois, aka Bobo, and his brother, 47-year-old Nick Francois, also known as Blacky were shot and killed at their home along Martinez Street in Arima.
As Trinidad and Tobago is witnessing a surge in the number of homicides, the citizens and residents have expressed their concerns over the safety issues.
"The murder will never stop happening. That ćome as normal in Trinidad and Tobago having cup coffee for the morning," wrote a user named Ramesh Rajaram, while another user blamed the police officers and said, "That's normal in Trinidad ! Man got shot and killed ! The police show up, take photos of the crime scene and they say," we're investigating! Nothing gets solved by the inept TTPS! Tomorrow, there'll be more killings, and the cycle continues."
