Washington, United States: Angry supporters of President Donald Trump created an uproar in the US Capitol on Wednesday, aiming to thwart a peaceful transfer of power, forcing lawmakers to flee the building and obstruct challenges to Joe Biden's victory for the Electoral College.
Trump issued a restrained call for peace after the scuffle but did not urge supporters to disperse. Earlier he encouraged them to march up to Capitol Hill.+lways going to be extraordinary, with Trump's Republican supporters opposing the election's results to say he had reversed the unfounded fraud. But even unusual deliberations, including the Republican vice president and Senate majority leader who rejected Trump's demands, were quickly overtaken.
In the no-control scene, protesters battle past police and marched through the halls, with flags of Trump and America waving the building, smashing the building.
According to a person familiar with the situation, a person was shot in the Capitol. The person's condition was unknown.
Earlier on Wednesday, the so-called "Save America March" crowd wore a Trump-approved red baseball cap and the outgoing Republican president reiterated the landless conspiracy theories he had consumed in his last days in office.
"When you don't agree on being involved in the theft," Trump said, "our country has enough and we won't take it anymore."
He aired his familiar grievances from the 2016 election with his former Democratic rival news media and Hillary Clinton, and delighted the crowd by calling the Democratic victory a product of what he called an "explosion of the bull".
"Bulls ***! Bulls ***! Bulls ***!" In response, the crowd created a commotion.
Weeks has passed after states complete the certificate that Biden won Trump's 232 election by electoral college's 306 votes, and Trump's extraordinary challenges led to Biden's victory in courts across the country.
Congress was scheduled to confirm Biden's victory on Wednesday. Many of Trump's fellow Republicans have promised a stonewalling effort that was almost certain to fail.
