Thousands of people protest against Trump's supreme court pick

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in the US capital – Washington, DC – and other centres beyond the nation to oppose President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court aspirant and to call for his failure in the November 3 election.

Saturday’s demonstrations, which organisers announced were taking a position in all 50 states, were motivated by the first Women’s March in Washington, DC, a tremendous anti-Trump demonstration held on the following day of his 2017 commencement.

Conversing to an assemblage gathered at Freedom Plaza in the US capital, Rachel O’Leary Carmona, the Women’s March executive director, asked women to confront Trump in the forthcoming elections scheduled for November 3.

“When we come together when we take the roads, when we choose, women are the only most influential political energy in America, and there is nothing – not one thing – that Donald Trump can do to prevent us,” she stated.

Demonstrators also paid applause to the late Supreme Court justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg – an idol for women and progressives – while objecting Trump’s selection of conservative judge Amy Coney Barrett to succeed her.

Protestors at the Women’s March announced they were outraged that Republicans seem willing to establish Barrett’s nomination so near to Election Day after declining to move forward Merrick Garland, the nominee of former President Barack Obama, a Democrat, more than six months before of the 2016 election.

“The reality of the matter is that we are strong and they are scared,” stated Sonja Spoo, the director of the reproductive rights campaigns at UltraViolet, a feminist support group, one of the talkers at the demonstration. “They are on the ropes, and they apprehend it, and we are about to deliver the knock-out punch.”
