St. Kitts and Nevis: The long-awaited vision of the Cayon well turned into reality on Friday with the Government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, commissioning the well at Cabbage Tree. The well will now provide 24-hour water service to the residents of surrounding areas.
The significant development was held during a small ceremony held near the pump house, around 30 feet from the island’s main road.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, a key advocate for this project, attended alongside his cabinet colleagues and gave brief remarks to mark the occasion. This event showcased improved access to water and the potential restoration of round-the-clock water service for the residents of Cayon and surrounding areas.
Since assuming office in August 2022, the Minister of Utilities, Konris Maynard, has made improving access to potable water for residents of St Kitts a priority and for residents of Cayon and the surrounding areas, it is now their reality.
The Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, and Domestic Transport formally thanked the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, the leadership and staff of the St. Kitts Water Services Department, and BEAD St. Kitts Limited for contributing to this vital initiative.

He said that PM Drew and he had a toast with Cayon Well Water in their glasses in Parliament after the well was successfully commissioned. He further noted that several others came out at the well site to join in a toast to the restoration of 24-hour water service to the people of Cayon.
The Minister thanked the Prime Minister and the entire Cabinet for their tremendous support during this project. He also thanked the officials of BEAD, the good developer, and the hard.
The Minister further reiterated his commitment to benefiting the entire island and said, “We now continue the work to bring relief to the other communities affected by the lack of water.”
In addition to this, Agriculture Minister Samal Duggins said that the Labour Party has once again delivered this significant milestone in less than two years. He said that the Labour-led administration has successfully completed the Cayon well project, bringing much needed relief to the people.
