Sarah Everard Murder: People continue to demand justice in the UK

Vigils and demonstrations were held across the UK on Monday night to remember Sarah Everard and brand-building police protest powers. Hundreds of people visited a vigil in inner London on Monday evening, blocking Whitehall — where the Parliament is located — and meeting outside New Scotland Yard. Everard, 33, disappeared on March 3 as she was going home from a friend's house in South London. She was found dead ten days later regarding the discovery of a body in the woods in Kent. A kind police officer was caught and charged for her death. Her killing was much soul-searching in the UK, with many women sharing their own experiences of being threatened while driving outside on social media. READ MORE RECENT NEWS HERE It has also led to many studies of the police after footage from an unauthorized vigil in south London on Saturday told officers handcuffing and lifting ladies from crowds. Home Secretary Priti Patel has also asked for a review of what happened, calling the images "upsetting." It has also intensified scrutiny of the Police, Crime, Sentencing, and Courts Bill, allowing police to impose more rigid restrictions on static protests and marches, including start and finish times and most noise levels. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said the legislation is needed "especially to deal with illustrations where people are not primarily violent or severely disorderly" but have "an avowed intention to bring checking to its knees and the city to a halt". Even on Sunday, thousands of people across the UK ignored the health-guidlines to demand justice for the girl who never returned her home after going for a walk near her house. The outrage across the country continue to grow as people demonstrate for justice.
