Hillary Clinton’s new book What Happened has made headlines ahead of its September release.

In an excerpt, the former United States presidential nominee has called US President Donald Trump a “creep” who made her “skin crawl”.

Clinton has revealed that she chose to write the book in order to “pull back the curtain” on her failed bid to become president in November last year.

The comments relate to Clinton’s real thoughts during the second presidential debate, during which Trump lurked behind her while she responded to questions.

Clinton wrote: “Two days before, the world heard him brag about groping women.

“Now we were on a small stage and no matter where I walked, he followed me closely, staring at me, making faces. It was incredibly uncomfortable. He was literally breathing down my neck. My skin crawled.”

She goes on to say that she had to make the decision between smiling and ignoring his behaviour and turning around and saying loudly: “Back up, you creep. Get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women, but you can’t intimidate me, so back up.”
