COVID-19 returns in Wuhan, govt to test the entire population
The authorities in Wuhan are recording a spike in coronavirus cases related to the Delta Variant.

Authorities stated that over seven locally transmitted cases have been recorded; this is the first instance any local cases have been recorded in over a year.
The Chinese City of Wuhan came into limelight after the pandemic of the 21st century was discovered in a city of 11 million people. China is now experiencing a spike in coronavirus cases after 300 new cases were detected in just 10-days.The Chinese health officials said the new cases are related to the Delta variant of COVID-19, and now the entire population will undergo testing in Wuhan.
The announcement comes after the country reported 90 cases on Tuesday, while 61 of these were locally transmitted.
China had well-succeeded in controlling the virus, but the recent emergence of COVID-19 cases at the busy Nanjing airport again raised the alarm. The 9.2 million residents of Nanjing had been tested three times, and govt imposed a lockdown on hundreds of thousands of people.The popular tourist destination Zhangjiajie in Hunan province is also under the spotlight after many new cases were discovered in the area. Officials are trying to track down over 5,000 people who attended different activities in the city.
China's leading respiratory disease expert Zhong Nanshan said that the Zhangjiajie Hunan province has become the new ground for China's virus spread.
The new COVID-19 transmission also reached Beijing, where authorities are recording severe local cases.
In 2019, the sudden deaths related to a pneumonia-like illness raised the alarm worldwide, while just a month after the spread of the unknown disease, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a health emergency. On January 30, 2021, the WHO had declared it a pandemic, asking all countries to take note.Globally, there are 200,963,311 cases of COVID-19, with 4,269,677 virus-related deaths.
