Trinidad: Burnt skeletal remains found in Longdenville

Trinidad and Tobago: Burnt skeletal remains were discovered in dense bushland near Sewa Drive, Todd’s Road, Longdenville, on Wednesday afternoon, with several items found nearby.

According to the reports, burnt skeletal remains were discovered at around 5:30 p.m. Police were immediately informed about the burnt body in the locality through an anonymous report.

People at the incident site assisted the officers to the exact location, however they refused to reveal their names to the police due to an undetermined cause. Trinidad and Tobago police are requesting for the public assistance in identifying the individual whose burnt skeletal remains were recovered.

Officers who attended the site recovered what seems to be the skeletal remains of a human individual. The investigating team also found multiple objects near the remains, including what seems to be a truck wheel rim and the remains of a steel tyre belt, along with the pair of Timberland footwear, roughly sized at 10.

Providing one of the most important leads available to the investigating officers is the physical condition of the teeth of the deceased. Police stated that the remains had multiple notable gold teeth in the upper front section of the teeth. Investigators expect this dental detail could help in determining the identity of the person, it is projected that if relatives, friends or peers might recognise the dead through the lead.

The autopsy of the body has yet to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre in St James. The examination is projected to give investigators further information about the remains and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Although the available information does not indicate any act of murder or any revelation about the cause of death and how it occurred, the final conclusion depends on the forensic and investigative findings.
