Pepper Spray bill passed in Trinidad and Tobago parliament
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: On Wednesday, the parliament of Trinidad and Tobago passed the "Pepper Spray Bill", which had been in long demand of the general public considering an increase in genocide against women. The bill comes as hope for many women who feel unsafe due to increasing violence against women in Trinidad and Tobago. In recent times, several women lost their lives due to a lack of protective gears.

The bill became a significant demand after Ashanti Riley- an 18-year-old girl who was brutally murdered in the country. The opposition had been demanding the government to legalize "Pepper Spray" in the country.

Riley was raped several times before the three men ended her life with brutal stabbings. Her body was discovered days after she went to meet her grandmother but never returned. Her family had demanded justice and the legalization of "Pepper Spray" so all girls and women could utilize it to defend themselves in case of an unprecedented situation.

Riley was not the only one, Recently, 23-year-old girl Andrea Bharat was killed by two men by hammering her head with a heavy object.
