Trinidad and Tobago police captured and charged a suspect for killing a 33-year-old Jesus Alexander of Boodoo Trace, Debe. The accussed Anderson Hill is due to appear at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court today, after he was charged with murder on Sunday 20th June, 2021.

Consultations were held with Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Mrs Joan Honore-Paul, who advised police to charge the 25-year-old labourer from La Lune Village, Moruga with murder.

Police told media that on Tuesday 8th June, 2021, a group of Venezuelans were at a beach along the La Lune coastline in Moruga, when they were accosted by a group of men. The assailants allegedly robbed the group of a quantity of cash, jewelry and cell phones. During the incident, one of the assailants allegedly shot and killed 33-year-old JESUS ALEXANDER, of Boodoo Trace, Debe.Some locals informed the police the police and a team of detectives, under the directives of Inspector (Ag.) Anil Maharaj conducted investigations into the murder. More thorough probes led to the arrest of the accused Anderson Hill.

Police told that the cause of murder is yet not clear and investigations are undergoing to understand why the 25-year-old labourer murdered the victim.

The incidents of murder, kidnapping and theft are rapidly growing across Trinidad and Tobago as people fail to make a living due to the unprecedented crisis resulted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
