Mark Brantley represents St Kitts and Nevis at 76th Session of the UN General Assembly

New York, US: Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis and Minister of Foreign Affairs St Kitts and Nevis, represented the nation at the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States of America. The National General Assembly opened on Tuesday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Abdulla Shahid of the Maldives was sworn in as the General Assembly President, and he opened the session, which will go on till 30 September. Mark Brantley wrote on Twitter, "Honoured to represent #StKitts #Nevis at the opening ceremony of 76th #UNGA #DiplomacyMatters" Mark Brantley led the delegation on behalf of St Kitts and Nevis. He was accompanied by Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ian Patches Liburd, Minister Counsellor Ghislaine Williams, and Third Secretary Asha DeSuza. The United Nations General Assembly's 76th Session is based on "Building Resilience through hope to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainably, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of people, and revitalise the United Nations." Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, only limited delegations are allowed in the hall and around only 100 representatives from various countries are expected to attend the meeting in person. The general debate started on 21 September and will continue till Monday 27 September 2021.
