St Kitts and Nevis: Pfizer roll-out begins, new academic session and more

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: A virtual opening ceremony was held as St Kitts and Nevis prepares to welcome back students for the academic year 2021-2022. During the ceremony, Minister of Education Jonel Powell said the department continues to place its trust in teachers and administrators in the education process. Minister Powell also discussed several new projects coming into operation for the 2021-2022 school year. He said all students in schools, regardless of their intellectual abilities, must be given the opportunity for technical and to pursue professional skills. Minister Powell said the teachers and administrators make many personal sacrifices in education, training, forms. He said the Technical Vocational Education and Training project is funded by the Caribbean Development Bank and the Federal Government under the TVET Enhancement Project. Furthermore, discussing the initiatives of the Ministry of Education, Minister Jonel Powell said that recently several renovation projects were completed in secondary schools islandwide. Minister Powell also announced that people from across the education sector in S. Kitts and Nevis formed a core committee responsible for developing the concept and framework for establishing a National Training Institute in the Federation. This initiative will result in the amalgamation of TVET locations across the country. Vaccine for children St Kitts and Nevis is also rolling out Pfizer vaccine for children over 12 years and older from 1 September onwards. Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris encouraged parents to register their kids for the vaccine drive. The roll-out for the vaccine for children will protect them from the virus and smoothen the face-to-face class experience.
