Cannabis infused cookies, brownies selling online in Guyana to school children

The authorities in Guyana are raising the alarm for parents after drug packed candies and other treats are becoming more easily accessible in the country. The Minister of Education Priya Manickchand released a message from her social media page, asking parents to get into conversations with their children regarding such threats.

"New packaging for illicit drugs that are sold to your children in various locations, including at or around schools," said Minister Manickchand.

She stated that ordering these substances has become even more easier by contacting people through social media sites and delivery happens at any time named.

The education minister also asked parents to come together and report any such incidents to the ministry.

"We will do all we can to keep these out of the schools and severely deal with anyone caught bringing them into schools. But, you can help by having frank, open conversations with your children about the danger of drugs, peer pressure, trying new things etc. Let us work together to shut this down," she stated.

As per recently surfaced social media posts, these cannabis infused treats include candies, brownies and other snacks. These are widely sold through social media. The easy availability of such substances is making the situation even more alarming and causing the authorities to take rapid action.
