St Kitts and Nevis: A 23-year-old batsman from St Kitts and Nevis, Mikyle Louis, made his 3rd century in the 2024 West Indies Cricket Championship 2024. The cricketer gave an excellent performance and garnered the attention of the world.
After his latest century, Louis topped the run charts with a whopping 649 runs and also captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts throughout the Caribbean region.
He is playing for the Leeward Islands Hurricanes and has hit 3 centuries and is close to hitting 7 half centuries.
The Kittitian player's exceptional form has placed him at the center of many discussions, with netizens arguing that he has the potential to be added to the West Indies team.
Following this huge achievement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Denzil Douglas, also took to Facebook to extend his congratulations to the young player. He remarked, "A Star in the Making! Congratulations, 23-year-old opening batsman Mikyle Louis, for being the first batsman to score 600 runs this season in the West Indies Championship."
Notably, Louis scored his 3rd century of the season against the Windward Islands with 100 runs in 193 balls, and his innings comprised ten boundaries, nine fours, and one sixer. His huge achievements of the season are as follows:
52 and 80 against Barbados
57 against Jamaica
Back-to-back centuries
113 and 130 against Guyana
55 against West Indies Academy
Minister of Sports Samal Duggins also congratulated the player and said, "Congratulations, Mikyle Louis, on your outstanding performance! Back-to-back centuries, one half-century, and four innings of pure cricket brilliance! Keep hitting them out of the park, and keep up the phenomenal performance."
Miklye is a 23 year old hard hitting all-rounder, who opens the batting and bowls leg spinners. The player has represented St Kitts and Nevis at various regional and international matches. He is the brother of Jeremiah Louis, who has already played for the Leeward Islands senior team.
Meanwhile, several people from St Kitts and Nevis took him to Facebook to congratulate him and wish him luck in his future endeavors.
"He is knocking. Here's hoping he knocks down the door. Go youngster," wrote a user named Hastings Daniel while another user named Deokarran said, "He will make the WI test team to the tour of England. Congratulations young man."
