Speaking at a Phagwa event in Penal yesterday, Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal slammed the group of former Caroni Ltd workers, labelling their actions as hypocritical and politically-motivated.
Moonilal reminded the former workers that under the Kamla Persad-Bissessar-led People’s Partnership administration between 2010 and 2015, 8,000 former worker received land, including 5,000 two-acre plots for agriculture and 3,000 residential lots. He added that 12,000 acres of land was developed for them.Noting that the UNC is very proud of their track record, he said, “We ask between 2016 to today how many acres have been developed? How many lots have been given out by the PNM?” asked Moonilal.
Advising them that they should be attacking and protesting against the Rowley-led government, he said, “Seven years the PNM have not created one, not even a cemetery plot of land for Caroni workers. They have not given out one residential lot and yet they come to oppose against the Opposition after seven years.""I want to indicate that is political mischief by a few those people are being misled by one or two people with political agendas either with the PNM or some other party. It cannot be with the UNC because we are very proud of our record,” Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal.
He pleaded with the former workers to end the hypocrisy and public mischief they are engaged in by stalking the UNC Women’s Arm and following them with placards.
