President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali, delivered his pre-budget address on Tuesday. He assured the public that the budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023 would be a game-changer for the country. He said the new budget would improve the lives of people and provide enhancement and support to different sectors.
He said the new budget is packed with things for every sector of the society, including the school children, working-class and pensioners. “Specific measures to address and support our school children, to support the elderly, supporting the vulnerable, supporting dialysis patients while all of this would be catered for in budget 2022During the pre-budget address, President stated that the government is working to lower the burden for people who wish to have their own homes. He said the the cost of borrowing will be reduced for homeownership.
He added that the upcoming budget would help improve local international branding training and development.
President said that the budget would also provide support to small businesses. The government aims to collaborate with major global chains investing in integrating closer with Guyana's local production system."Government will work tirelessly to invest in the people of Guyana; we seek to reduce any differences that exist in a tax system," added President Irfaan Ali.
Besides this, President Ali stated that the government has paid essential attention to the construction sector in the new budget, and new measures will be undertaken to promote it.
He stated that 2022 would manage the problems of cranes and other specialized equipment required in the oil, gas, and construction sectors.
"Budget 2022 will address these with measures that would reduce any hardship load and enhance capabilities for local contractors to invest in the essential tools that are required for the construction industry.”
Furthermore, he stated that the government has listened to the public's cries concerning the taxes on heavy-duty vehicles,".
