The Guyana police on Monday arrested a man for growing Cannabis plants at his home in Quamina Road, Beterverwagting, on the East Coast Demerara (ECD).
A 41-year-old man was arrested after someone tipped the police off four cannabis plants at a time on the East Coast of Demerara.
According to Police Headquarters, a party of Policemen carried out a cordon and search exercise on the home of the man and found two plant pots containing four green plants, which have leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. The tallest plant measured three feet three inches in height.
As a result, he was cautioned and admitted ownership for personal use. He was arrested and placed into custody, and the plants were lodged.
The man had grown cannabis in small pots at his home. At the same time, people are condemning the police for avoiding bigger crimes and doing small-time raids at random places.
A social media user named Nazalene Persaud wrote, "And when there is a crime they can't turn up, look, leave the man and his plants stupppps."
Another user named Glory Bacchus said, "How they found 2 little plants in the man house...n cannot find the thieves n knife-wielding men along with the others who preying on others hard earning n taking people lives..thats the man,"
One user wrote, "Priya Ãngél, "Guyana Police respond within seconds when you report about ganja or family probs, but they take hours before responding to robbery and break-in....i call several times when our house was being broken into, but they told me instead there was no police vehicle available at that moment like what is happening".
