Former sports journalist with mysterious disease in Guyana dies

Rene Stoby, a former budding sports journalist from Guyana who had to quit his journalistic career due to an unknown illness that affected his mobility and voice, has died.

Rene Stoby, a former budding sports journalist from Guyana who had to quit his journalistic career due to an unknown illness that affected his mobility and voice, has died. Stoby had begun to have muscle spasms in 2016 while still working as a journalist. He had worked at the National Communication Network (NCN), and the Guyana Times-Newspaper. The spasms were excruciatingly painful, and he was eventually compelled to quit his job. With time, his condition deteriorated dramatically, and his left arm was practically trapped in an almost right angle position. Stoby had even suffered tremendous discomfort when his muscles would become stiff. He had also lost a lot of weight due to his sickness, and he was compelled to consume mostly blended meals. However, Stoby had spent most of his days in bed at his mother's house at Beterverwagting on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD). He was unable to converse verbally, but he could still send and receive text messages. He was also unable to walk without any assistance. Despite everything, he had always remained hopeful and happy.
