United Kingdom: Have you ever witnessed a person losing his legs or hands after eating noodles? Definitely not, but as per a case reported in New England, a teenager's body turned purplish, and he lost his fingers and legs after he ate the leftover food.

Although this unusual medical case was witnessed by Doctors in 2021, but it just recently went viral after a YouTube video portrayed the whole case, leaving people in shock.

The findings of Doctors reveals that the 19-year-old in a restaurant ate leftover food that consists of: lo mein noodle meal, along with chicken and rice.

He was fine until he developed food-poisoning symptoms, including stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, chest pain, shortness of breath, and blurry vision, after 20 hours of consuming the leftover food.

The findings are mentioned in the New England Journal of Medicine in March 2021, which underscores, "Multiple episodes of emesis occurred, with vomitus that was either bilious or red-brown. The abdominal pain and vomiting were followed by the development of chills, generalised weakness, progressively worsening diffuse myalgias, chest pain, shortness of breath, headache, neck stiffness, and blurry vision".

The 19-year-old was immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Unit after his skin started turning purple. Medical practitioners of Massachusetts General Hospital reported and treated the teenager for shock, organ failure, skin mottling, and a rapidly progressive reticular rash.

Doctors said they had to cut his fingers and legs below knees following the deteriorating health of the boy.

A friend of the teenager was also with him and consumed the food but did not face the severe health consequences, which the boy countered, the report further adds.

This incident has left people in shock, arising curiosity among them about how eating food led to such extreme health impacts.
