"The tide in this location increases to about a metre (3 feet) in this as per our knowledge we think we can move the boat out of its current position with the high tide," the vice-admiral added, stressing that tugs had already been trying in vain to liberate the vessel. He stated that more tugs would be arriving soon to assist with the operation. According to local media, the Norwegian Escape was on its way to the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands before heading to the Bahamas. Passengers took to social media to share photos of the incident, which showed tug boats beside the ship. There was no damage reported. The Norwegian Escape is over 326 metres (1,070 feet) long and weighs 165,000 tonnes, according to the Norwegian Cruise Line website. It has the capacity to carry up to 4,200 passengers and 1,700 crew members. The ship was manufactured in Germany and delivered in 2015, making it one of NCL's largest.Latest
