The Washington Archibald High School officially launches its 20th Anniversary celebrations this morning (Friday) with a Thanksgiving Service at the Pro-Cathedral of St George (The St George's Anglican Church).
The service begins at 9 am, the school posted on its website.
"A march through the streets of Basseterre follows the service. The march will showcase a sample of the indelible mark that this institution has placed on secondary education in our Nation," the school said.
Principal, staff and students have extended an invitation to all parents/guardians and past students to join them for the march "as we paint the town orange!"
"Remember to wear something orange!!! Once a Wildcat always a Wildcat!!!!." said the school.
On 6th September 1999, the Basseterre Junior High School was officially renamed and opened its doors as the Washington Archibald High School. Named after Mr George Washington Archibald, educator and political commentator, the school was reinvented in so many ways and featured a new uniform, a new school song, a new school motto and a new school crest to name a few.
"Twenty years later, we have so much to give God thanks for and we have had so many significant accomplishments in this short space of time. Today we proudly boast of our academic and athletic prowess and our mission to always be the school of chances and the school of excellence! Not to mention our overarching mission to provide all students with a high level of education that will promote academic, physical, mental, social, moral and spiritual development," the school said.
The theme for the 20th anniversary celebrations is "Forging Ahead with Excellence and Stature; 20 More Years of Shaping our Nation's Future."
