The board of St Lucia’s Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) has announced Nestor Alfred as the organisation’s new chief executive officer.
Alfred, who holds a degree in management studies from the University of the West Indies and an MBA from Henley Management College/Brunel University, replaces Cindy McLean.
McLean was sent on administrative leave in June with immediate effect following a string of conflicting accounts related to the stance of Invest St Lucia and the CIU regarding the Desert Star Holdings project.
Anti-crime background
Prior to joining St Lucia’s CIU, Alfred was an executive director of the Gaming Authority, a financial management consultant, registrar of insurance and assistant comptroller of Inland Revenue St Lucia, among other roles.
Regionally, he serves as commissioner to Caricom Competition Commission.
“Nestor brings to CIP St Lucia his vast experience as a regulator within the financial services sector and his expertise in the areas of anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism,” the CIU board said in a statement.
“The board looks forward to working with him as he provides necessary leadership to the Citizenship by Investment Unit and overall management of it's affairs.”
