The Minister of Public Utilities of St Kitts and Nevis, Konris Maynard, has condemned the serious and scandalous allegations made by Duncan 'Big Lice' Wattley regarding a power cut in his house. He has also demanded a public apology from him in the same manner in which he tried to defame him.

Konris Maynard has hired a lawyer and has instructed him to take the appropriate action, seeking an immediate retraction and apology by Wattley to be aired similarly to the falsehoods he has told about him within 48 hours of receipt of correspondence from his lawyer.

The incident came to light after Wattley, in a now-viral Facebook 'Live Rant' on his popular Facebook Program, alleged that Minister Maynard was directly involved in making a power cut at his residence (which is usually managed by SKELEC).

As Minister Konris Maynard holds responsibility for SKELEC, Wattley targeted him and stated false statements about him, his character and his integrity.

The live attracted 9000 views on his page and 25 shares to other Facebook pages and has also recived more than 7000 views on a particular Youtube Channel and countless more republications.

While seriously condemning this false accusation, Minister Maynard stated that Wattley deliberately used his platform and his position in the government to launch 'vicious' and 'unfounded' attacks against him with the intention of harming his reputation.

Notably, SKELEC, independent of its line Minster, has its operating procedures for managing its day-to-day affairs, including dealing with outstanding arrears.

This thing is known by every citizen of St Kitts and Nevis. Still, Duncan Wattley made such serious allegations against the Minister, causing harm to his and the government's reputation.

"I will NOT allow Mr Wattley's reckless disregard for my reputation or integrity to stand. There is a clear line between harsh and passionate criticism of my style as a politician, a person and a Minister, which I welcome, versus jumping in the gutter with blatantly false, malicious and scandalous accusations against me both personally and professionally," outlined Minister Konris Maynard.
While denying all the fabricated accusations made by Wattley, Minister Konris Maynard said that this act will not go unanswered or excused as political commentary and added, "Let me be very clear: All the allegations made against me by Mr Wattley, no matter how loudly he shouts them, are blatant lies!" He asked Wattley to be ashamed of trying to tarnish his good name and character. The Minister said that he would take these false and defamatory accusations seriously and would not 'ignore them' or be 'scandalized' by Wattley and his absurd attacks.
