Guyana: Cheddi Jagan Intl Airport enhances services for ICC T20 World Cup visitors

Guyana: The Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana has increased measures to ensure a seamless arrival process for cricketers, fans, and visitors during the highly anticipated ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup tournament. The matches will kick off at the Guyana National Stadium on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
According to the information, the airport authorities along with officials from customs, immigration and the local organising committee partnered to streamline processing for cricketers and fans arriving during the tournament. The enhanced measures includes increased staffing for Customs and Immigration to expedite arrival procedures.
The Cheddi Jahan International Airport officials along with collaborating agencies has executed a robust security plan to assure a smooth and secure arrival experience for everyone arriving to the country for the matches.
Meanwhile, all involved authorities will be on high alert to maintain a safe and secure environment throughout the tournament.
CEO of CJIA, Ramesh Ghir emphasised that the safety and security of everyone entering Guyana is of utmost importance therefore the authorities maintain close partnership with the relevant authorities and consistently monitor security trends to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any potential risks.
It is to be noted that in order to enhance the fan experience, a dedicated line system will also be implemented specifically for cricket tournament attendees. In addition to this, all frontline staff will be proudly sporting branded jerseys with a warm message of ‘Welcome to Guyana’.
These measures ensures that the thousands of visitors who will be arriving can get a taste of the unique offerings of Guyana.
On the other hand, teams from the West Indies, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Uganda, and Afghanistan also arrived on the island on Friday ahead of the Men’s T20 ICC Cricket World Cup tournaments in Guyana.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the teams touched down at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, ready to showcase their skills at the prestigious tournament.
This tournament showcases unity, sportsmanship, and a celebration of the country’s unique love for Guyana.
