The video has gone viral, getting coverage on international news stations.
“There is some footage that has been sharing around on social media and you can see persons frolicking in the high seas at the airport, on the outskirts of the airport,” Phoenix Belfield said.
“I want to really reiterate that it is critically important for persons to ensure that this is a time that they are supposed to be protecting themselves, stay indoors and not to be going on a frolicking run outside because it can be terribly dangerous outside.”
According to Belfield the country has suffered a lot from Tropical Storm Erika, and “if Erika has taught us anything is to be proactive, to be preventative because prevention is better than cure.”He stated also that the DASPA wants to ensure that all necessary safeguards and measures are put in place for minimal damage.
Belfield added that persons traversing the road, especially in the vicinity of the Douglas-Charles Airport, must exercise caution.
“You will notice that because of the high seas that are affecting the airport that the water will be reaching as much as 10-15 feet high and it will come over the wall, so be careful.”
