Cuba gets assistance from Mexico, Russia & Bolivia after US announces new sanctions
Over the past week, the Caribbean island of Cuba receives the assistance of shipments of food and medical supplies from Mexico, Russia and Bolivia as the United States government impose more sanctions on the island country on Friday.

The Caribbean island is in the middle of a public health and economic crisis, as it is recording the highest numbers of COVID-19 infection cases now.
Mexico's ambassador to Cuba - Miguel Díaz Reynoso, on the assistance cited, "This awaited arrival, together with other vessels, other forms of support, of cooperation, represent one simple and remarkable thing."Following the statement, he continued and asserted that the assistance that has been provided by the neighbour countries depicts the sign and proof of friendship, gratitude, and solidarity and added, "That's what President Obrador asked for. For Cuba to have what it needs now, and that's what is being shipped."
The President of the United States - Joe Biden, has also warned the Cuban administration that they might impose more sanctions on the Caribbean country.The Biden administration has imposed new sanctions against two top Cuban officials & the Cuban National Revolutionary Police for their part in the crackdown against anti-government protesters in Cuba. Thousands of people gathered on the streets of Cuba and made it one of the biggest protests in the decades.
This announcement of the new sanctions came just before President Biden conducted a meet for the Cuban-American leaders, including Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., and Manny Diaz, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, at the White House Friday afternoon.
This meet was hosted to held a discussion about the sanctions & other features of the U.S. response to the regime's violent destruction of the peaceful protests.The island country has reported a total of 9,279 cases of the COVID-19 virus on 2 August 2021, taking the approximate number of the confirmed cases to 4,04,000 so far. While in total, 2,913 individuals have died on the island amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
