CARICOM chairman congratulates Dr Timothy Harris for victory

The chairman of CARICOM congratulated Dr Timothy Harris for becoming the prime minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis for another term.

In a press release the chairman and Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley stated that the overwhelming nature of the Triumph at the polls indicated the scale of confidence that the people of Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis have in the ability of the party to guide them to a secure and prosperous future.

Ms Mottley also congratulated the people of Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis on the smooth and peaceful conduct of the pole in spite of COVID-19 pandemic.

St Kitts and Nevis observed general elections on June 05 under unprecedented times of COVID-19 pandemic, the parliamentary elections were also unusual because the polls were held under a state of emergency imposed because of Coronavirus.

Team unity Coalition gained a massive a majority of the people. They defeated the rival Saint Kitts and Nevis Labour party by winning nine out of the total 11 parliamentary seats.

Team unity also created history on some of the Parliamentary seats that were considered to be the stronghold of the Labour party from many decades.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris sworn in as his second term in the office where he acknowledged the support of his team members and people of St Kitts and Nevis.

Team Unity has become the first coalition in St Kitts and Nevis to get a second-term in office.

As the coronavirus crisis are going on, which is why St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party and Team Unity interacted with their supporters through virtual campaigning on social media and other platforms.
