A bomb threat that led to the evacuation of a hotel in Antigua has been labeled a hoax.

According to a press release from the Pineapple Beach Club, an anonymous caller telephoned in a bomb threat to front desk this morning

“This incident has been conclusively determined to be a hoax,” a statement read, with the caller suspected to be “a disgruntled former employee or contract worker.

“The resort takes security issues of this nature very seriously. The call was immediately reported to local police authorities who conducted a thorough search of the property.

“Nothing out of the ordinary was found.”

Pineapple Beach Club, a luxury beachside property in the east of Antigua, said that their own security team has confirmed that no unauthorised people have been seen or reported on the property, and normal operations have resumed.

Guests and staff were evacuated away from the buildings during the search, the resort confirmed, “out of an abundance of caution”, with no other concerns “of any kind”.

“This was a cowardly and misguided attempt to disrupt the resort’s business, and the resort is fully cooperating with local authorities in an attempt to identify the suspect.”

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda have been tightlipped throughout the day regarding reports of a bomb threat.

When WIC News contacted the police communications department earlier today they would only say that they were investigating ”certain reports”.
