A man named Michael Lin dropped his 35 million job at NETFLIX, citing the reason that he got bored. Lin used to work for the OTT platform as an engineer in the United States of America.

The man joined NETFLIX at the position of a senior software engineer in the year 2017 after he left his job at Amazon.

Speaking about his decision of leaving Netflix, Lin asserted, "I made $450,000 a year, get free food daily, & had unlimited paid time off. It was the Big Tech dream. At the time, I thought I would stay with - Netflix forever".

Following the above statement, he then notified that his decision was opposed by his loved ones, especially his parents.

"My parents were the first one to object. For them, my decision was throwing away their hard work of immigrating to the US. My mentor was the second to object. He said I should not quit without another job lined up because I would miss out on leveraging my high salary when negotiating my pay at my forthcoming job".

Although Lin was himself not sure about his decision and was worried that it might affect his future, and therefore he waited for at least three days before speaking to his manager about his resignation.

Lin went on, saying, "Working at Netflix was like getting paid to work on case studies you learn about in MBA programs. They made the memos for each product decision available for all employees to read, and I learned so much every day".

The COVID-19 pandemic period changed things for Lin at his job; as all the exciting things, such as - socializing with people the coworkers, everything was put to a halt.

"The only thing left was the work itself, and I did not enjoy the work anymore. I wanted to have a bigger impact. For me, deciding how to assign engineering resources was more concerning to my career goals than the engineering work itself, & all I wanted to transition into product management to lead these efforts".
